John F. Spicer, 61, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011 at his home. A funeral service will be held today, Tuesday, March 15th at 11:00 a.m. at the Green Funeral Home, Hermon with Ted Champagne, president of the Ogdensburg branch, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial will be in the Hermon Cemetery with military honors.
John was born in Gouverneur, the son of John and Beulah Enslow Davis. John attended Hermon-DeKalb School and served in the United States Army for fourteen years, serving overseas in Vietnam and Germany at the rank of Sergeant. He was also employed at the Village of Hermon. A marriage to Sue Henry ended in divorce.
He enjoyed watching television and deer behind his home and was a past member of the Hermon Vol. Fire Department.
John is survived by his parents, John and Beulah of Hermon; a daughter, Tiffany Nicole Spicer of Canton; a sister, Fama and Nelson Carpenter of Hermon; a brother, Everest “Mickey” Stiles of Saranac Lake; and two nephews, Michael and Dustin VanHouse.
He was predeceased by a niece, Michelle VanHouse.
