John David “Brownie” Brown, 55, passed away at his home on Thursday night, February 9, 2012, under the care of his family and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.

John was born June 2, 1956 in Gouverneur, the son of Charlie and Dorothy Turner Brown, and he attended Gouverneur schools. Brownie worked as a roofer and for the St. Lawrence County Highway Department until an injury on the job. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending winters in Florida. He also enjoyed time spent with his stepdaughter, grandchildren, and his dog “Keedo”. John married Connie Hall Marasco on December 4, 2011.

John is survived by wife Connie; a stepdaughter, Kelly Marasco of Gouverneur; two grandsons, Nicholas Marasco and Joey Marasco; stepmother, Erline Brown of Gouverneur; a sister, Sheila Bell of Gouverneur; by two stepbrothers, Ellis LaPlant of Dexter and David Cole of Gouverneur; two stepsisters, Melody McCumber of Gouverneur and Tammy McIntosh of Chaumont; and several nieces and nephews.

John was predeceased by his parents.

There are no calling hours or funeral services and arrangements are with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.

Memorial donations in John’s memory may be made to the Gouverneur Volunteer Rescue Squad or Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
