John C. Williams, 84, Massena

Calling hours for John C. Williams, 84, of Massena and formerly of Northport, will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at Brueggemann Funeral Home of East Northport. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena. A graveside service will be held at the Northport Rural Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Feb. 2, 2012. John died on Sunday (January 29, 2012) at the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena.

Surviving him are his wife, Rosemarie; a son, John and his wife Michelle of Massena; a daughter, Andrea and her husband Thomas Fitzpatrick of Hagerstown, MD; and two grandchildren, Jackson and MacKinley Eberlin.

He was predeceased by a half sister, Helen Currie.

John was born June 18, 1927 in Brooklyn the son of J. Frank and Ruth Knowlton Williams. He grew up in Douglaston, Long Island and graduated from Adelphi University in Garden Citywith his master’s degree in teaching. John served in the Army from 1955-1956. He married Rosemarie Mehner in June of 1959 in Central Islip. John taught at East Wood School in Oyster Bay from 1958 to 1966 and then went to teach at Elwood School District in Elwood from 1966 to his retirement in 1992.
