Jean Jeffery, of New Port Richey, FL and formerly of Norfolk, released herself into the arms of the Angels on Saturday, Jan 8th with her loving daughters by her side. She fought a long and courageous battle with Lymphoma.
Jean was born in Potsdam, May 19, 1936. She and her late husband, Roy, owned Hamilton Fireplaces in Norfolk for many years, which Jean continued to run, even after Roy’s death in 1984. Jean bought the old Raymondville Hotel in 1989. Owning a bar was a dream of hers for many years. Owning the Hotel gave Jean a purpose. She would rise every morning to open and wonder what meal to prepare for her patrons. She never charged for her meals, just felt good about “feeding” somebody! After all, she raised seven children!!
After running the Hotel for nearly 17 years, Jean retired and moved to Florida to be near her children. Her interests here were spending time with family, sewing, reading, Tuesday night bingo and an occasional garage sale. She truly enjoyed her retirement.
Jean is survived by her children, Vickie Trimm (FL), Lawrence Jacobs (FL), Drew Clements (LA), Jo-Anna Clements (FL), Cheryl White (NY) and David Jeffery (VT); and 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Her son, Dennis Jacobs (FL), predeceased her.
As per her wishes, Jean will be interred beside her husband, Roy, at Bixby Cemetery in Norfolk in the springtime. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley.
