Irwin F. McQueer, 75, of St. Lawrence Avenue died Monday, February 21, 2011 at his son, David’s dairy farm on the Ireland Road.
Born August 6, 1935 in Ogdensburg, he was the son of the late Harold and Edalene Forrester McQueer. He married Sandra Howie on November 19, 1960. Sandra died April 27, 2003 after 43 years of marriage.
Irwin was a farmer most of his life and a cattle dealer. He had a great passion for draft horses, attending many horse shows with his friends. He enjoyed his weekly Sunday evening dinners with his grandchildren and holiday dinners with his family, and having coffee and reminiscing with his long time friends in Hammond and Morristown. He also kept in touch with his many friends from afar.
He served on the Hammond village Board and with the Hammond Fire Department for many years. Irwin also hosted the Hammond Fair on his property in the village of Hammond.
Survivors include sons, Douglas, Superintendent of Hammond Central School, Daniel and his wife, Michele, and their two boys, Jakob Irwin, nine and Lukas Daniel, seven, David, who worked closely with his Dad, and Dwayne and his companion, Allison of Rossie and her daughters; and several nieces and nephews.
The will be no services. Burial at Ingham Cemetery, Brier Hill will be in the spring. Arrangements are with Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Inc., Theresa.
