Mr. Ian A. Seymour, 55, of 60 Seymour Road, suddenly passed away on Saturday evening, April 23, 2011 at Cornwall Community Hospital, with his family and friends by his side.
Ian was born on September 12, 1955 in Cornwall, the son of the late John A. and Mary Kay Beauvais Seymour. He attended schools on Cornwall Island and graduated from General Vanier in Cornwall. He later went to St. Lawrence College in Cornwall for welding trades.
Ian had a great passion for artwork and sculpting. He considered himself as a Stainless Steel Artisan and Sculptor owning his own business, Seymour Welding and Fabrication. He also was an ironworker with Local #440, Utica. Ian was a communicant of St. Regis Catholic Church. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved to hunt. He enjoyed cooking and was known for his Indian Hash. His friends and family were an important part of his life and he loved to tease and joke around with everyone. Nearly every Sunday, Ian traveled to Oka, to visit and check in on friends and family.
He was survived by his loving companion of 23 years, Joy Roundpoint; three sisters, Lorna and Joseph Francis of Akwesasne, Angela and Phillip Monture of Six Nations, and Judith Seymour Nadjiwan and her companion, Ray of Wiarton, Ontario; and many nieces and nephews.
Ian was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Seymour; his brother, Perry Seymour on October 15, 1978; and his sister, Luanne Martin on January 18, 2007.
Friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at the St. Regis Catholic Church. Cremation will follow.
