Howard F. Morse, 92, passed away Monday, October 25, 2010 at the Kinney Nursing Home, Gouverneur.
Howard was born April 19, 1918 in Bigelow, the son of George and Electa Planty Morse.
Mr. Morse married Maude Dawley Denesha on September 23, 1994 in Gouverneur. He was previously married to Marjorie Hills. Howard was employed at Groveton Paper Company in Natural Dam, retiring as a foreman after over thirty years of employment. He enjoyed spending winters in Casa Grande, AZ, playing the guitar and fiddle, and raising, training, and showing horses. Howard was a member of the Black River Valley Fiddlers and was a steward for the American Horse Show Association.
He is survived by his wife, Maude; four daughters and sons-in-law, Norma and Joel Reynolds of Gouverneur, Lorraine and Jack Bell of Spragueville, Linda and Larry Hance of Trout Lake, and Judy and Kevin Bigelow of Richville; 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and seven great, great grandchildren; two sisters, Freida Lovely of Ogdensburg, and Laura Anson Greenwood of Theresa; and many nieces and nephews, and a special friend of the family, Cathy Dane.
Howard was predeceased by a son, Gary Morse; four brothers, George, Lawrence, and Fred Morse, and Leroy “Kenny” Santimaw; and six sisters, Hazel Randall, Florence Burnett, Ethel Young, Blanch Ingram, Isabell Perkins, and Adah Tamblin.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 28th at 11:00 a.m. at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur with Rev. Dr. Wilfred Baez, pastor of the Gouverneur United Methodist Church officiating and burial in East Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur. Calling hours are today, Wednesday from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
