Mr. Thomas E. Welch, 59, 196 North State St., Concord, NH, a native of Massena, unexpectedly passed away Monday, August 29, 2011, at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH.
Thomas was born October 3, 1951, in Malone to Everett Dickenson and Dorothy Mae Charette Welch. He graduated from Massena Central School. He joined the U.S. Navy on May 4, 1970 serving until his honorable discharge from the USS Garcia on May 3, 1974.
Thomas was self-employed in New Hampshire building homes and cabins.
Thomas was a member of the VFW and a Harley Davidson Riding Club in New Hampshire. He enjoyed camping with his family, boating, fishing including charter fishing, singing, playing guitar and was a jokester with the family and friends.
Thomas is survived by his mother, Dorothy Mae Silmser of Massena; three stepchildren, Janene Hersey, Jud Sarette, and David Marcheterry, all of Ludlow, NH; two sisters, Sandra and Earl Cunningham of Massena, and Lou Fitch of Agawam, MA; two brothers, Louie and Steve Welch, both of Massena; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, Everett Dickenson Welch on September 20, 1967.
Friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, Friday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Massena, with Rev. J. Michael Gaffney celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Edmund’s Cemetery, Ellenburg.
