Herbert Wright, 79, passed away on December 14, 2010 at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center. Arrangements are with Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg. He has resided at the United Helpers Nursing Home since November 2007. Prior to that, he resided in family care and at Columbia High Manor in Morristown.
A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Morristown in the spring.
Mr. Wright is survived by several nephews and nieces among them, Ronald and Judy Wright of Morristown who were his caregivers, Lera Wright Bertrand of Morristown and Lloyd Wright of Albion; and several great nephews and nieces.
Mr. Wright was born on September 16, 1931 in the Town of Oswegatchie, the son of Edward S. and Emma Volans Wright. He was predeceased by his parents; six brothers, Raymond, Dale, Gilbert, L. Russell, Alton and Richard Wright; and two sisters, Doris Peters and Edna Tripp.
Mr. Wright never married. He attended a local country school in the Town of Oswegatchie. He lived with his parents and worked on the family farm on the McCormick Rd., Ogdensburg for several years. He also worked for over 20 years at the ARC in Ogdensburg which he enjoyed very much.
Herbert was a very happy outgoing person who enjoyed playing cards, games, dancing, and visiting with his friends and family.
He was an honorary member of the Morristown Fire Dept. and always looked forward to helping out with the July 4th Firemen activities.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church as well as the Stone Church in Morristown.
Donations may be made in his memory to the Morristown Volunteer Fire Department.
