Helen (Weaver) Cobane, 89, formerly of Parishville

Helen (Weaver) Cobane passed away peacefully at the age of 89 at the Seneca Hill Manor, Oswego, on Sunday, December 4, 2011. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Garner Funeral Home in Potsdam with Rev. James Barnes, officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Cemetery, Parishville. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Helen was one of eleven children born to Grant and Edna Weaver, Parishville. Helen attended Parishville schools and was employed at Kraft Foods, Slater Food Service at Clarkson College, Potsdam State University Food Service, and AEP Fraternity in Potsdam. Helen retired in 1988.

Helen married Forest Edwin Cobane on August 22, 1939 in Canton. Forest Cobane passed away on July 26, 1997.

Helen is survived by her children, Dona (Cobane) Richards, Ithaca, Patricia (Cobane) Newtown, Winthrop, Paul Cobane, Canton, Ronald Cobane, Little River, S.C., and Deborah (Cobane) Flanders, North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a sister, Beverly Stone, Adams; and grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Cobane, who passed away on February 3, 2010 after a brief illness with cancer.

Arrangements are with the Garner Funeral Home, Potsdam. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.
