Funeral services for Helen P. Cooper, age 100 a resident of the United Helpers Nursing Home and formerly of State Street in Heuvelton, will be held on Wednesday (Oct 27, 2010) at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Heuvelton with Pastor Rob Schirmer officiating. Her place of rest will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held at the church also on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Mrs. Cooper passed away Sunday (Oct 24, 2010) at the Nursing Home.
Surviving are many cousins in Washington and many local special friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Reece in April of 1984; and a sister, Zella Parkinson in 1994.
Helen was born on May 3, 1910 in Oriska, ND, a daughter of the late William and Maude (Stillman) Porter. She graduated from Lisbon High School and Canton ATC with a home economics degree. She then married Reece Cooper on November 17, 1934 at the Parsonage in Amber, with Rev. Taft celebrating their marriage.
During her working career, she was employed at Cleveland Container, McCadam Cheese and the St. Lawrence National Bank where she was a teller/bookkeeper for 20+ years.
She enjoyed traveling, eating out, gardening, crocheting and was a United Presbyterian Woman and parishioner of the Heuvelton United Presbyterian Church.
Memorial contributions have been requested to the Heuvelton First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
