Helen Carman, 86, of DeKalb Junction, died November 22, 2010, at Maplewood Campus, Allen-Denesha Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Calling hours will be Friday, November 26, 12 – 2 p.m. at the funeral home, funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Reverend William Hart officiating, burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur.
Helen is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Mary (Paul) Hanna, Rensselaer Falls, and Elizabeth “Betty” (finance Ray Kent) Dana, Manlius; step son Charles (Sally) Mason, Syracuse; grandsons, Brian Michael and Adam Matthew Dana; and one great grandchild, Sean Gallagher.
She was born March 16, 1924 in the Gouverneur, the child of Stanley Gladle and Leona White. She married Lawrence Carman, November, 1948 in Gouverneur, he predeceased her. She owned and operated Helen’s Lunch in DeKalb from 1985 until she retired. She was a member of Rebekah’s of Richville; she was the Noble Grand, Odd fellows, DeKalb, Richville, and Gouverneur, American Legion Auxiliary, Gouverneur, the Silas Wright Grange, DeKalb Junction, DeKalb Junction Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Hermon Rescue Squad. Contributions can be made to the DeKalb Junction Volunteer Fire Department or the Hermon Rescue Squad.
