A Mass of Resurrection for Helen C. Viskovich, 97, of Belmont Avenue, Massena, will be held on Monday, Jan. 3, 2011 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary's Church in Massena with Rev. Michael J. Gaffney presiding. Friends and family may call on Monday from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home, 64 Andrews St., Massena. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in the spring. Helen passed away on December 30, 2010 at Massena Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Helen is survived by her children, John M. of Massena; Stephen M. of Syracuse, NY; Patricia Pellegrino of Louisville: Kathleen "Kasey" Long of Elbrige, and Barbara and husband Paul Morrow of Massena; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a sister, Muriel Bullard, of Peterbourrough, Ont.
Helen was born on June 22, 1913 in St. Raphaels, Ont., the daughter of Christopher and Catherien (McDonald) McRae.
She graduated from Queens University in Kingston, Ont. with a degree in education.
She married Nicholas J. Viskovich on July 15, 1939 at St. Raphaels Church. Mr. Viskovich predeceased her on April 19, 1990.
Helen was an elementary teacher at St. Regis Mohawk Elementary School and retired from St. Mary's School.
Helen was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, League of Sacred Heart at St. Mary's Church, and a member of Home Bureau. Helen was an avid bridge player.
