A Memorial Mass for Harold W. “Hi” Amo, Rensselaer Avenue in Ogdensburg, will be held on Wednesday, Dec 1, at 11 a.m. at Notre Dame Church with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Burial will follow the service at Notre Dame Cemetery.
Calling hours will also be held on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Amo died November 26at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center. Arrangements are with the Fox & Murray Funeral Home.
Surviving is his son, Victor Amo and his wife Claire of King of Prussia, PA; a granddaughter, Michele “Miki” Albrecht and her husband Tony of King of Prussia, PA; two great-grandchildren, Griffin M. Albrecht and Raven C. Albrecht, along with nieces, nephews and cousins.
A brother, Dennis Amo, and a granddaughter, Lori Amo, predeceased him.
“Hi” was born on November 26, 1921, in Ogdensburg, a son of the late Dennis and & Isabela (Doull) Amo. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1941 and was stationed in the South Pacific. He received his honorable discharge in 1944, and married Simone Irene Thibert on August 28, 1945, at Notre Dame Church with Msgr. A.D. Charbonneau celebrating the couple’s marriage. She predeceased him on November 3, 2005.
He was employed as a salesman for Clickner & Wilson Distributor for 30 years, and was a life member of both the VFW and DAV. He was also a member of the Elks BPOE # 772, Knight of Columbus # 258, American Legion and the Beham Hunting Club in South Colton.
Memorial contributions have been requested to the Notre Dame Heritage Fund.
