Gregory Lawrence Martin, 52, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012 at his home under the care of his family, friends, and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
Gregory was born November 20, 1959 in Alexandria Bay, the son of Larry E. and Ruth N. Gay Martin. Greg worked several years in construction and as an iron worker/steel fabricator. He was a life member of the North American Hunting Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, canning, and writing poems as a few of his poems have been published.
Greg is survived by his son, Chad Martin of Gouverneur; his daughter, Faith Martin of Louisville, KY; four grandchildren; his mother, Ruth Martin of Richville; a brother, Randy Martin of Richville; seven sisters, Darlene Hartman of Redwood, Sue Ann Martin of Jordan, Carolyn Green of Marcellus, Judy Norton of Waddington, Kathleen Norman of Richville, Maria Martin of Canton and Verlee Crosby of Byron; and several nieces and nephews.
Greg was predeceased by his father; two brothers, Wayne and Donald Martin; and his longtime companion Diane McCallops.
A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, May 2nd at 1:00 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Stephen Rocker officiating and burial in New St. James Cemetery, Gouverneur. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., prior to the mass at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.
