TAMPA, FL -- Ronald G. “Ron” Cascanette, 74, of Norfolk, NY, died Wednesday, May 3, 2023, in Tampa, Florida with his beloved daughters at his side.
Ron was born February 18, 1949, in Malone, NY to the late Harold Cascanette and Norma Cheney. He graduated in 1968 from Potsdam Central, then enlisted in the Army the same year, bravely fighting to serve the country he loved so much.
After being wounded in Vietnam, Ron returned home where he went to college at SUNY Canton. Upon graduating, he started with the USPS where he worked from 1974-2007, retiring as postmaster in Parishville, NY.
When Ron was not spending time with his daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Ron could be found watching sports, especially his favorite “GOAT” Tom Brady, watching his horse races, or spending time with friends.
Survivors include his daughters, Jeri Lyn (Richard) Cascanette, and Shelby (Jenessa) Cascanette. Five grandchildren: Courtney, Tayler, Shaelyn, Ben, and Noah. Seven Great Grandchildren Camdon, Sophie, Rylin, Dallas, Jackson Ronald, Emory, and JJ. Siblings, Cheryl (Mohsen) Monsef, Bonnie (David) Degostin, Basil (Kristin) Cheney, Dottie (Darrin) Hebert, Harold (Charlene) Labarr, and Tammy (Tom) McGrath.
He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Norma and Basil Cheney, his father and step-mother, Harold and Irene Cascanette, a sister Harriet Bonno, a brother Mark Brower, and a great granddaughter.
He has been entrusted to Garner Funeral Service. There will be a graveside service with military honors at the Fairview Cemetery in Parishville on May 24th at 1 pm with Rev. Hattie Taylor celebrant. A celebration of life will be held at the American Legion in Norfolk at 2 East High Street in Norfolk after the services. Condolences for the Cascanette family can be shared @www.garnerfh.com.
