Gladys Luella Kinney, 91, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2010 in Hopewell, VA.
Gladys was born September 24, 1918 in Pitcairn, the daughter of Myron and Minia Kirkbride Cole. She attended Geer’s Corners rural school and was a homemaker most of her life. Gladys married Arley W. Kinney on November 30, 1939 at the Harrisville Methodist parsonage. Mr. Kinney, a retired machinist, passed away October 10, 1978.
Gladys lived on the Somerville Road and at Kilkarney Courts before moving to Virginia to live with her daughter. She had been a member of the Fowler Baptist Church and enjoyed bowling, cooking, playing bingo, playing lottery tickets and slot machines.
Gladys is survived by her daughter, Kathy and her husband Lynn “Pete” Denesha of Hopewell, VA; three grandchildren, Angela O’Shea, Robert Bovay, and Dustin Denesha; five great grandchildren, Brian Davis, Brittney McPherson, Kiernan Hughes, Alexys Denesha, and Zackary Denesha; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arley; a sister, Violet Donaldson; and five brothers Edwin, Durwood, Lionel, Maurice, and Bernard Cole.
Calling hours will be held at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur on Friday, October 1st from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 3:00 p.m.
