Gerald Persons, age 77, of Star Lake passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.

Calling hours for Gerald will be on Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at French Family Funeral Home in Star Lake. His funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Lay Pastor Roger Benjamin officiating. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.

Gerald was born on August 10, 1936 in Lowville, to the late Joseph B. and Hannah J. (Jones) Persons. He attended Copenhagen Central School. Gerald married Joyce Adams on August 14, 2010 in Greenwood Falls. He worked for P & C Foods for 17 years before becoming self employed operating Persons Contracting working as an electrician and in heating and plumbing.

Gerald was a member of the Carthage Elks Lodge and the Newton Falls American Legion. He enjoyed dancing with his wife every weekend, traveling, fishing, camping, spending time with his family and helping anyone out who needed it.

Surviving is his wife, Joyce of Star Lake; a daughter, Cheryl and Russell Groff of Copenhagen; two step daughters, Kimberly and Bruce Folsom of Fine and Linette and Tom Irish of Canton; a brother, Richard Persons of Watertown; two sisters, Grace and David Brown of Carthage and Betty Jane and Phil Bernhardt of Harrisville; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Gerald was predeceased by a son, Richard D. Person, who passed away in 2004; a brother, Joseph Persons; and two sisters, Lucille Leader and Geraldine Ventiquattro.
