Gary H. LaParr, 65, of North Shore Road died Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg with his loving family at his side.
Born November 1, 1945 in Watertown, he was the son of the late Hilton and Yvonne Derouin LaParr and had attended school in Harrisville. He married Juanita Whitney on January 16, 1965 at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church, Harrisville. Mr. LaParr was employed with J & L Steel, Star Lake for over 15 years, was a heavy equipment operator for various jobs, and IBEW Local #1249 in Syracuse for over 15 years.
He was a member of the IBEW Local #1249, Knights of Columbus in Harrisville and assistant Scout Master with Boy Scouts of American Troop #44 in Harrisville.
Mr. LaParr enjoyed his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, cutting wood and sugaring.
Survivors including his wife, Juanita are five children and their spouses, Teresa and Charles Hitchman, Canton, Clorinda and Ross Wagoner, Redwood, Anthony and Veronica LaParr, Stuartsville, NJ, Sara and Jason Cassel, Duncan, SC and Terry and Lynn LaParr, Harrisville; seventeen grandchildren, Andy, Timmy and Scott LaParr, Christine and Eugene Hitchman, William and James Wagoner, Ty Boster, Emily Runyan, Michael, McKensie, Garet and Gavin Cassel, Tori, Leigha, Talon and Lila LaParr; a daughter-in-law, Didi LaParr, of Lowville; six brothers and three sisters, Robert “Bob” LaParr and Barbara, Pillar Point, Larry “Butch” and Mary LaParr, Oswegatchie, Elaine and Gary Blair, Westminster, SC, Jim and Donnalee LaParr, Harrisville, John and Kathy LaParr, Augusta, GA, Leatta LaParr and Harry, Oswegatchie, Pat LaParr, Auburn, Jackie and Ben Wangelin, Seaton, IL and Scott and Beth LaParr, Bensalen, PA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a son, Gary Lynn LaParr; and a sister, Ann LaParr.
The funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 17 at St. Francis of Solanus Catholic Church, Harrisville. A reception will follow at the church.
