Frances Marie Pedersen, 96, passed away Wednesday, May 4, at her home under the care of her family and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.

Born February 9, 1915, in Trufant, Michigan, she was the daughter of Jens and Marie Beck Frantsen. Frances was raised in the Danish farm community of Trufant, Michigan, along with her brothers, Art, Ray, Norman and sister, Agnes, all of whom are deceased. Growing up in this idyllic environment of rolling pasturelands and beautiful family farms enriched her life with warm and pleasant memories of families and good friends. She had a great fondness for children and her friendships were many.

Frances had an abiding love and deep respect for nature, which was passed on to her children. She was an avid reader up until her death, loved to crochet and needlepoint, and was a devout Detroit Tiger’s fan.

Frances was married to Viggo Pedersen who passed away in 1970. They lived in Royal Oak, Michigan and together they raised three children, Dolores (Getzen), Phyllis (Kallio) and Paul Pedersen. Her daughters Dolores and Phyllis preceded her in death and her son Paul lives with his wife Ann in Hermon. She leaves behind son-in-law James Kallio of Weidman, Michigan; six grandchildren, Greer (Barry Pugatch), Holly (John Sullivan), Grace Getzen, Alexis (Sean Haas), Summer (Geoff Capraro) and Christopher Kallio; 12 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews. A grandson Rupert Getzen III predeceased her.

She will be missed by all who had the good fortune to know her and had been touched by her genuine kindness.

No memorial service is scheduled at this time and plans for a service in Michigan will be announced at a future date. Arrangements are with the Green Funeral Home of Hermon.
