Forrest D. Rice, 90, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2010 at his home. A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 12th at 11:00 a.m. in East Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur with Rev. Robert LaVeck, pastor of Christian Life Fellowship officiating and a luncheon will follow at the Oxbow Vol. Fire Department. Calling hours are private with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.
Forrest was born January 10, 1921 in Gouverneur, the son of Lloyd and Eva Mae Peck Rice. Forrest married Beverly Devendorf on August 2, 1949 in Gouverneur. The couple operated dairy farms in Richville and Pierces Corners before moving to their farm on the Robinson Road in 1960. Forrest also supervised the Macomb landfill for several years.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, playing his guitar, and taking Sunday trips to Canada.
Forrest is survived by his wife, Beverly; two sons, Bruce Sr. of Macomb, and Bobby of Dexter; two daughters, Mary Rice of Hammond, and Jane Zeller of Macomb; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Paul Rice of Macomb.
He was predeceased by two sons, David and Emerson; a daughter, Patsy Liscum; and a son-in-law, Walter Zeller Jr.
