Funeral service for Floyd M. Congdon, 80, of North Russell, will be held on Friday, April 27, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the O’Leary Funeral Home, 5821 US Highway 11, Canton with Rev. Bill Hart, officiating. Burial will follow at the North Russell Cemetery. Floyd died on Monday, April 23 at home while under the care of St. Lawrence Valley Hospice.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2012. Contributions in his memory may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley.
Floyd is survived by his companion of 16 years, Betty Cousino; two nephews, Randy Payne of Canton and Jeff and wife Carol Payne of Newton Falls; and by Betty’s daughter, Holly Taylor of Canton.
He was predeceased by a sister, Marion Payne.
Floyd was born August 6, 1931 in North Russell, the son of the late Roy and Mable (Reed) Congdon. He graduated from Knox-Memorial Central in Russell. Floyd worked for 40 years at St. Lawrence University in Canton, maintaining the heating and cooling systems. He enjoyed collecting die-cast model cars, camping, traveling and attending church suppers.
