Fernande Sauve Rivers, 99 of Chattanooga, TN and formerly of Massena, went to haven on May 4, 2011. She was born on May 2, 1912 in Montral, Quebec the daughter of Ceolfrid and Eugenlia (Poiriere) Sauve. She married Denery Rivers on July 22, 1939 in Sainte Cecile Cathedral in Valleyfield, Quebec and they lived 55 years in Massena, before relocating to Chattanooga in 1994.
She is survived by three of her five sons, Gilbert Rivers of Apple Valley, MN, Phillip and wife Jocelyne Rivers of Verdun, France and Maurice and wife Lorraine Rivers of Chattanooga, TN; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; a sister, Denise Gendreau of Montreal, Quebec; and a daughter in-law, Jean Rivers of Liverpool.
She was predeceased by her husband, Denery on September 7, 1998; her son, Norman on August 21, 2000; her grandson, James on September 6, 2009; and a son, Bernard on June 5, 2010.
She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Chattanooga. Many thanks to out to her caregivers over the years especially Connie’s Place. At the family request, in lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Caris Hospice Health Care of Chattanooga or St. Mary’s Catholic Church Sanctuary Fund.
Friends and family may be received on May 14, 2011 from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m. at Phillips Memorial Home, Massena.
