Ernest E. “Ernie” Perry, 80, Madrid

Mr. Ernest E. "Ernie"Perry, 80, formerly of 2228 State Highway 310, passed away Thursday evening, March 1, 2012 at the Florida Hospital Heartland Medical Center in Sebring, Florida. Ernie was born January 1, 1932 in Madrid, the only child of the late Earl L. Perry and Dorothy Mosher Perry. He attended schools in Madrid, New York. On July 28, 1951, he married Theresa J. Caskinette at the family farm in Madrid.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa; three children, Diane McDade of Altamonte Springs, Florida, Linda Perry of Pleasanton, California, and Sandra Misso of Red Creek; five grandchildren, Bart and Douglas Lopez and Roger, Josh, and Erica Misso; two sisters-in-law, Clara Smith of Massena and Beatrice Darrow of Queenstown, Maryland; three brother-in-laws, Carl Caskinette of Massena, Terry Caskinette of Malone and Wayne Caskinette of Niagara Falls; and numerous cousins.

He was predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Edmund Caskinette and Howard Smith; and his sisters-in-law Bonnie Greene and Rita Furness.

Ernie was a self-employed dairy farmer for nearly 40 years at the family farm in Madrid. He also worked for the St. Lawrence County Highway Department and on the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway in the early 1950s. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. Ernie was a member of the Norfolk Rifle and Gun Club, the Lisbon Sportsman Club, the New York State Trappers Association, the St. Lawrence County Trappers Association, and the National Rifle Association.

There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions can be made to the United Church of Madrid. Graveside services will be held in the spring in Madrid Cemetery.
