Ms. Elma A. Claffey, 86, 12 Ames Street, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 23, 2011 at Massena Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since Friday.
Elma was born May 1, 1925 in Norwood, to the daughter of the late Clarence and Nina Peck Claffey. She attended Norwood Schools. Elma worked for Warner Brothers, A and P, Loblaws, and Great American until her retirement. She enjoyed flowers and gardening, bowling and bingo.
She is survived by her sister, Pauline E. Claffey of Massena; and many nieces and nephews including, Sharon Bell of Massena, Carolyn Wilson of Massena, Leonard W. Lauber of Massena, Jacqueline Dibble of Jacksonville, Florida, Frank Jesmer of New York, William Boyea of New Jersey, James Boyea of Oswego, Dick Boyea, Paul Paige of Norfolk, Christine Sullivan of Norwood, Janet Demo of Norfolk, Mike Claffey of Norfolk, and Patrica Claffey of Norfolk.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Lester, Bernard, and Paul who was her twin; four sisters, Wanthea Boyea, Irene Jesmer, Mabel Lauber and Leeta Paige; her niece, Shirley Jesmer; and her nephew, Virgil Paige.
Friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be Friday, 12 noon at the Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Donald Manfred, officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Norwood.
