Elizabeth Pike, 82, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2010 at E.J. Noble Hospital, Gouverneur.
Elizabeth was born in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, the daughter of Benjamin and Rose Brown DeLair. She graduated from Hammond Central School in 1945 and had lived in New York City where she worked at Belleview Hospital. Elizabeth returned to the Gouverneur area where she lived over sixty years and owned and operated Cedars Diner and Trailer Park. Elizabeth married Roland A. Pike on May 10, 1949 at the Trinity Episcopal Church, Gouverneur. Mr. Pike, a retired employee of Rushmore Paper Co., passed away December 22, 2003.
Elizabeth enjoyed her pet dogs, scratch off tickets, bingo, fishing, spending time with her grandchildren, and was an avid NY Yankee fan.
She had been a fifty year member of the Earnest Rebekah Lodge #16 of Antwerp.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy and Steve Cherry of Pulaski; her son, James Pike of St. Albans, VT; three grandchildren, Rhonda and Jerry VanOrman of Gouverneur, Stephanie Murtha of Gloversville, Derek Armstrong of Pulaski; seven great-grandchildren, Jessica, Krystina, Jenny, Krystal, Lindsey, April, Bryce; a great-great-grandson, Urijah; many special nieces and nephews, and her dog Noodle. Elizabeth is predeceased by her husband Roland and two sisters, Ceceil Ramsey and Ila Denesha.
A funeral service will be Monday, December 13th at 3:00 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur with Rev. Eric Harblin, pastor of the Brasie Corners Community Church officiating. Calling hours will be 2 - 3 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
Memorial donations may be made to the Gouverneur Vol. Rescue Squad or a charity of one’s choice.
