A funeral service for 95-year old Mrs. Elizabeth M. “Betty” Crossman of Potsdam will be held at a later date and time to be announced at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Potsdam with the Rev. Dr. Christopher Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Bayside Cemetery in Potsdam. Calling hours will be held at the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam prior to the day of the service.
Mrs. Crossman died on March 5, 2012 at the Canton United Helpers Maplewood campus. She was a lifelong resident of Potsdam.
A son, Bruce of Tucson, Arizona survives her.
Betty was born in Potsdam on April 9, 1916 the daughter of William John and Agnes (Bockus) Arquett. She graduated from Potsdam High School in 1928, and was one of the first two Licensed Practical Nurses trained atPotsdam Hospital, where she was employed for 31 years. Betty married Rollin C. Crossman on December 31, 1942 at her family’s home at 45 Waverly Street, Potsdam. Mr. Crossman died Nov. 4, 1974.
Elizabeth was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Potsdam, the Potsdam Hospital Retired Nurses Association, St. Lawrence County Senior Citizens, Sandstone Senior Citizens in Potsdam, Colton Senior Citizens, and the Debra Drive Seniors group in Potsdam. Betty was a devoted volunteer with the C.O.R.C. Store for 30 years. Betty loved spending time in Floridaduring the winter months.
If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Trinity Episcopal Church, the C.O.R.C. Store Building Fund, or to the Canton-Potsdam Hospital Foundation, all located in Potsdam.
