Funeral services for Elizabeth " Betty” F. Condlin formerly of Franklin Rd, Waddington, will be held in the spring at St. Mary's Church, Waddington at a time to be announced. Family and friends are invited to call Monday (January 31, 2011) evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home, Waddington.
Elizabeth " Betty" F. Condlin died Saturday morning (January 29, 2011) surrounded by her family at St. Joseph's Home, Ogdensburg.
Betty is survived by her children, Grace and husband George Mattern of Phenix City, AL, John and wife Tina of Hawaii, Charles and wife Mary of Austin,TX, Richard of Waddington and daughter-in-law Hilde of Germany; 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Kahrs of Patchogue.
She was preceded in death by her husband James in 2009; son James; a grandson, David; a sister, Eleanor; and brother Edward.
Betty was born May 18, 1920 in Brooklyn the daughter of John and Grace (Gillen) O'Brien. She married James E. Condlin April 30, 1941 at Mary Queen of Heaven Church, Brooklyn by Rev. Crawford. Mr. and Mrs. Condlin owned and operated Condlin's Grocery in Waddington, they later were proprietors of Condlin's I.G.A. in downtown Waddington for five years.
Betty was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Mary's, Waddington.
