Mrs. Eileen T. Jeanson, 79, passed away Wednesday morning, April 30, 2014 at the Highland Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since June 2008.
Eileen was born September 29, 1934 in Mooers, New York the daughter of the late Emmett H. and Albertine Barcomb Duprey. She attended schools in Massena earned her GED. On July 4, 1955, she married Albert B. Jeanson at the Church of the Sacred Heart; he predeceased her on March 30, 1969. In 1974, she married Bernard LaHair at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Norwood. Bernard predeceased her in 1986.
Eileen first worked for the Donaldson Funeral Home in Massena before becoming a clerk at MH Fishman Company. She then went to work as a nurse’s aide at the Potsdam Nursing Home and later worked for the President of St. Lawrence University until her retirement. She was a communicant of the Church of the Sacred Heart and enjoyed walking, crocheting, knitting, and gardening.
She is survived by three daughters, Lorraine Jeanson, Yvonne Jeanson and her companion, Miles Porter, and Rachelle Borland and her companion, Raymond Sultzer, all of Norfolk; a step-daughter, Elizabeth Ann Wilson of Watertown; three grandchildren, Emmett Baker of Madrid, Jessica Tuper of Norfolk and Candice Mossow of Brasher Iron Works; and six great grandchildren.
Eileen is also survived by four sisters, Bernadette Miller of Massena, Anna and Neal Miller of Canton; Mary Donie of Massena and Marilyn Rivers of Massena; her brother, Emmett and Florence Duprey of Norwood; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands and her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Ernet Duprey in 1969; and a step son, Michael LaHair.
Friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday 12:00 noon at the Church of the Sacred Heart with Rev. Donald J. Manfred, celebrating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Massena.
