Funeral services for Eileen C. Sprowls, age 82, of Ogdensburg will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday (Feb 28, 2014) at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Smith officiating. Mrs. Sprowls passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse on Wednesday (Feb 26, 2014). Burial will be at the White Church Cemetery in Lisbon in the spring.
Surviving are her children, Richard & Robert Sprowls of Ogdensburg and Lawrence Sprowls of LuRay, VA; a brother, George Ramsey of Hammond; three sisters, Doris Aldrich of Lisbon and Marjorie Rickett and Elizabeth Ashley both of Ogdensburg; and eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews & cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Elwin; two brothers, Edward & Mayland Ramsey; along with a sister, Evelyn Newton.
Eileen was born on December 24, 1931 in Morristown, a daughter of Cuthbert & Iva (Brooks) Ramsey. She attended Morristown School for her education and married Elwin F. Sprowls on October 29, 1955. Eileen was employed in the laundry department at a local nursing home in Culpeper, VA for a few years prior to relocating to the McIntyre Road in Heuvelton where she and her husband operated a farm for many years.
