Funeral services for Earl L. Binion, age 85, of the Plank Road in Watertown, and formerly of Church Street in Lisbon, will be held on Friday (Apr 22, 2011) at 11:00 a.m. at Foxwood Memorial Park Chapel with Rev. Walter Smith officiating.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday (April 21, 2011) from 3-7 p.m. at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mr. Binion died Tuesday morning at his son’s home in Watertown surrounded by his family.
Surviving are six sons, Steven Binion and his wife Linda of Sackets Harbor, David Binion and his wife Debbie of Ogdensburg, Jeffrey Binion of Potsdam, Michael Binion of Plattsburgh, Gregory Binion and his wife Mary of Watertown and Brent Binion of Ogdensburg; a brother, Frank Binion and his wife Anne of Lisbon; nine grandchildren , and six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a sister, Irene Binion; three brothers, Benny, Ralph and Lyle Binion; and a sister-in-law, Betty Binion.
Earl was born on December 15, 1925 in Lisbon, a son of the late William and Edna (Doyle) Binion. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and married Virginia Martin on Feb 22, 1949 at the Waddington Methodist Parsonage with Rev. Budd officiating. Virginia predeceased him on July 28, 1994.
He was the owner and operator of Binion’s Plumbing and Heating for 18 years and then went to work for the Lisbon Central School buildings & grounds superintendant for an additional 15 years. He fully retired in 1991.
He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Lisbon and a 25 year member of the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting & fishing, 4-wheeling, watching movies and the Atlanta Braves play ball, gardening, making maple syrup and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
