Mrs. Dorothy P. Lawrence, 84, of 29 Malby Ave, passed away early Sunday morning, May 14, 2011 at Massena Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for the past week. Dorothy had been in failing health for the past several years.
Dorothy was born April 19, 1927 in Cornwall, Ontario, the daughter of the late Eric and Elizabeth Connolly Monk. She attended schools in Cornwall. On July 25, 1955, Dorothy married Vivian B. Lawrence at the Trinity Episcopal Church, Cornwall. Vivian predeceased her on June 11, 1983.
She was a homemaker and once worked at Courtald’s Silk Mill in Cornwall before moving to Massena. She was a member of the Massena Senior Citizens and enjoyed spending time with her family. Dorothy also enjoyed knitting and cooking.
Dorothy is survived by her three children, David and Julie Lawrence of Massena, Donna and Christopher Church of Black River and Lisa Lawrence of Massena; her grandchildren, Tracy and Travis Hartwell, Karen Borsellino, James and Danielle Chapman, and Patrick and Britni Chapman; three great grandchildren, Nevada, Devin, and Ciara; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by four brothers, Eric, Gordon, Frederick, and David Monk; and two sisters, an infant and Constance Castle.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday 3:00 p.m. at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may consider, Massena Meals on Wheels, Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley, or Massena Rescue Squad.
