Dorothy Dodds, age 83, of Edwards, passed away on January 19, 2011 at her home under the loving care of her five children and St. Lawrence Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.
Dorothy was born on May 24, 1927 to the late Edward and Dorothy Ann (Matthews) Mundy. She graduated from Potsdam High School and the University Of Rochester School Of Nursing.
Dorothy married Dr. Alexander Earl Dodds in September, 1950 at the Potsdam United Methodist Church. She was a Registered Nurse, and assisted her husband in his private practice at their home in Edwards. Dr. Dodds passed away on August 12, 2010. Dorothy was a member of the Edwards United Methodist Church, and a former member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren, bird watching, bridge, genealogy, and traveling.
Dorothy is survived by her five children, Jane Dodds of Lima, Kathleen Dodds and Paul Dickson of Portland, OR, Dr. George Dodds of Cooperstown, Julia Dodds and Gary Brell of Anchorage, AK and Martha Dodds and David Anderson of Driftwood, TX; twelve grandchildren, Shannon, Alexander, Brad, Owen, Elizabeth, Julia, George, Roger, Colton, Wilson, Anna and Dorothy; two brothers, David Mundy of Denver, CO and John Mundy of Pulaski; and a sister, Lois Carlson of Trumbull, CT.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Alexander E. Dodds; three brothers, Edward, James and K. William Mundy; and a sister, Barbara Mundy.
Calling hours will be on Saturday, January 22nd from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at French Funeral Home, Edwards. Her funeral service will be on Sunday, January 23rd at 2:00 p.m. at the Edwards United Methodist Church with Rev. William Hart officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Gouverneur.
