Services for Doriva "Dory" Lord, of Maple St. Massena, will be held Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena. Friends and family may be received on Sat., Feb. 26, 2011, from 4:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in the spring. Dory passed away on Feb. 23, 2011 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, VT.
Dory is survived by his children, Pierre of Norfolk, Christian of Liverpool, and Louise and husband Ray Kelly of Pleasanton, CA; six grandchildren, Jennifer and husband Jason Read of FL, Nicole Lord of FL, Corey and Justin Hebert of CA, and Melissa and Nicholas Kelly of CA; a great granddaughter, Brooke Therese Read of FL; brothers Laurier Lord, of Ste Perpetue, Quebec, Irenee Lord of Longueil, Quebec, and Ligouri Lord of Ottawa, Ontario; a sister, Veronique Francouer of Tourville, Quebec; and numerous brothers in-law, sisters in-law and multiple nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, Jasmin, Raymond, Honorat, and Rejean Lord.
Dory was born on October 16, 1933 in L ‘Islet, Quebec the son of Philippe and Octavie (Pelletier) Lord. Dory served in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He married Therese Leduc on December 27, 1952 at St. Cecile Church in Montreal. Mrs. Lord predeceased him on July 24, 2010. He was employed at GM Powertrain as a Tool-Die Maker for 26 years.
Dory enjoyed playing ACBL Bridge, golf at the Raymondville Golf Club, and watching multiple sports simultaneously on tv (with a fondness for hockey).
