A Memorial Mass for Dora M. Dwyer, 83, of Massena will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours and internment will be at the Calvary Cemetery. Dora died Wednesday (December 21, 2011) at the St. Regis Nursing Home.
Surviving Dora are three daughters, Julie and her husband Archie St. John of Massena, Marykay Dwyer of California and Clarette Hamilton of North Carolina; two sons, Thomas of Georgia and Patrick and his wife Barbara of Horseheads; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, John (Bucky); two brothers, Donald and Larry Boyer; and a sister, Theresa Laurion.
Dora was born May 21, 1928 in Tupper Lake, the daughter of Leo and Dorothy Whalen Boyer. Dora graduated from Massena High School and then received an Associate’s degree from Paul Smith College. She married John (Bucky) Dwyer August 28, 1953 and John died November 1983. Dora taught release time at Sacred Heart School and also worked at the Lake Placid Club directly out of college. She was a communicant of the Church of the Sacred Heart and was a member of the Sacred Heart League.
Dora was an avid reader along with attending church regularly and she enjoyed spending as much time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Donations may be made to the Trinity Catholic School.
