Donald A. McDonald, 85, of Lisbon, died at the St. Regis Nursing Home, December 27, 2010. Calling hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m, Thursday, December 30 at the funeral Home. A funeral service will be at the Morley Wesleyan Church, Friday, December 31 at 10 a.m. Reverend James Bretzinger, Pastor of the Morley Wesleyan Church and Reverend David Norman officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Allen-Nichols Funeral Home, Ogdensburg.
He is survived by his wife, Eva; three sons, Robert and wife Patrice McDonald of Lisbon, David and wife Charlene McDonald of Colton, and Paul and wife Gladys McDonald of Palmdale, CA; two daughters, Janet and husband Jay Livingston and Denise and husband Scott Burrows of Lisbon; two brothers, Glenn and wife Sylvia McDonald of Norwood and Dale McDonald of Canton; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Duane McDonald; brothers Robert and Otis McDonald; and sisters Doris Christian, Alice Rivers and Eva Bulson Bouchey.
He was born on October 7, 1925, in Canton, the son of Archie and Elizabeth Robinson McDonald. He graduated from Canton Central School in 1942 and NYS Agricultural and Technical Institute on June 4, 1948 with an Associate’s degree in agriculture. He married Eva Finley on June 16, 1949 at the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Ogdensburg. He owned and operated his own dairy farm in Lisbon since 1950.
He was a member of the Morley Wesleyan Church and was active in many ministries, the 4H Club, Holstein Association, Morley Grange and the Canton Milk Producers Co Op as a founding member and director.
He loved his grandchildren and great grandson. He loved to go fishing and spearing. He leaves behind a legacy of a Godly family.
