Funeral service for Donald E. Vincent Sr, 76, of Canton will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., at the O’Leary Funeral Home, 5821 US Hwy 11, Canton with Rev. Rob Schirmer of Hospice, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Canton. Don went to join the love of his life, his wife of 51 years, Anita on Monday, October 31, 2011, he passed away at home while under the care of family and Hospice of the St. Lawrence Valley.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, from 6-9 p.m. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley.
Don is survived by a daughter, Janis and Michael Barr of Brushton; a son, Donald Jr. and Lisa Vincent of Tucson, AZ; by brothers; Kenneth and Flojean of Wilmington, OH, Edmund and Paula of Levittown, PA, and Gregory and Rachel of Wilmington, OH; by sisters, Diana Vincent of Canton, Karen and Douglas Baxter of Lisbon, Karla and Paul Pryce of West Potsdam and Debbie Cureton of Scandia, MN; also by two granddaughters, Jerica Miller of Malone and Courtney Cooper of Tucson, AZ; a grandson, Zachary Vincent of Tucson, AZ; and by several nieces and nephews.
Don was predeceased by a sister, Lucinda Vincent.
Mr. Vincent was born n June 20, 1935 in Canton, son of the late Edmond and Eleanor (Taylor) Vincent. He graduated from Canton High School and went on to attend Canton ATI, majoring in Business Management at which time he also served in the United States Army Reserves. He later was employed on the Seaway, working for Perini Corp. where he met his wife Anita; who predeceased him January 2007. He traveled to various states as Office Manager with the same company. He retired in 1997 from Gouverneur Talc, where he was also office manager.
Mr. Vincent enjoyed watching the various birds that came to the birdfeeder by his window. He also enjoyed movies and books pertaining to WWII.
