Donald D. Lancto, age 79, of 32 Prospect Street, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Monday, March 24, 2014 at Gouverneur Hospital.

There are no funeral services or calling hours and arrangements are with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.

Donald was born in Depeyster on October 1, 1934 to Dolph and Bertha Cunningham Lancto. Don attended local schools and worked primarily at St. Joe Mineral Company, retiring after 33 years. He had also worked at the papermill in Natural Dam, at local gas stations, and at the Gralyn Theater.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and spending time at Trout Lake at the family cottage.

Don married Julie A. Tibbits on March 4, 1957 at the Gouverneur United Methodist Church.

Don is survived by his wife, Julie; his three sons, Wayne of Gouverneur, Jerry and Karen of Gouverneur and Jeffrey of Richville; a daughter, Carol and Jack Benner of Antwerp; 10 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Johnson of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
