Dixie A. White, age 64, of Dickinson Center, passed away
Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone where she was a patient since May 20, 2011.
Born February 10, 1947 in Massena she was the daughter of the late Stephen B. and Margaret G. Eurto White. She was a graduate of St. Regis Falls High School and later a graduate of Massena School of Business. She first started work downstate for Wasiac State School. She later worked for the Franklin County Department of Social Services, where she retired with 38 years of service.
One of the most important things in her life was her faith and love of family and friends.
She enjoyed taking care of her Nieces and Nephews, cooking and her flower garden.
She was a member of St. Ann’s Church in St. Regis Falls and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, for many years Dixie printed the Sunday bulletin, she also served on the Finance committee. She was a member of the Dickinson Center Fireman’s Auxiliary where she was instrumental in organizing Dickinson Centers first Field Day, She was a member of the Brushton-Moira American Legion Post women’s Auxiliary, A democratic chairperson for Dickinson for 25 years. She also was involved with Dickinson Center politics. She never married.
Survivors include Duane and Jacqueline White of Brushton, Stewart White and companion Sandra Clookey of Brushton, Theron and Brenda White of Dickinson Center, Brenda and Gary Bombard of Ellenburg, Marlene and Karl Smith of Dickinson Center, Clark White of Brushton, Odena Jenkins of Dickinson, Center; and 20 nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews, and one great great niece.
She was predeceased by her parents.
Friends may call at the Flint Funeral Home, Moira on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, May 25, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Brushton with the Rev. Christopher J. Looby Officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Church in Brasher Falls, New York.
Memorial donations may be made to the Dickinson Fire Department.
