Cynthia Marie McFerran, 76, of Edwards passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at her home under the loving care of her family and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. at French Funeral Home, Edwards. A funeral mass will be on Thursday, May 3, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edwards with Fr. Stephen Rocker officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Edwards.
Cynthia was born on November 10, 1935 in Edwards, to the late Clarence and Clara (Jarvis) Barker. She graduated from Edwards Central School in 1952. Cynthia married James Frank McFerran on May 2, 1953 at the Old Catholic Rectory with Fr. Kelley officiating. She had worked as a secretary for Attorney Bill Clark from 1949-1953 and then worked at Ferry’s Grocery Store in Edwards for 16 years. She then worked as a bookkeeper at Sweeney Office Supply in Willimantic, CT until moving back to Edwards and working as a PMR at the Edwards Post Office where she worked for 16 years until her retirement.
Cynthia was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Edwards and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Edwards Historical Society.
She is survived by her husband, James F. McFerran of Edwards; two sons, Robert C. and Kathy McFerran of Moriah Center and Paul W. McFerran of Rocky Hill, CT; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen A. and Jeffrey Cassidy of Gouverneur; six grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Cynthia is predeceased by a son, Thomas J. McFerran, who passed away on October 16, 2010; a brother, Francis Barker and a sister, Phyllis (Barker) Porter.
