NORFOLK -- Cynthia L. “Cyndee” Deleel, 58, passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 8, 2019, in the company of her daughter and son-in-law, at University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington after a lengthy illness.
Cyndee was born April 4, 1960 in Massena, the daughter of Donald and Betty (Kellison) Deleel. She graduated a year early from Massena High School in 1977. She then continued her education at Mater Dei College earning her Associates Degree in Social Services. She later achieved her Bachelors Degree in Sociology and Human Services from SUNY Potsdam and her Masters Degree in Education Counseling from St. Lawrence University.
Cyndee used her extensive education in her role as as a Chemical Dependency Counselor for the St. Lawrence County Community Services Department. Later, she participated in the Fibromyalgia Support Group in Potsdam. She was an avid reader.
Cyndee is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Desiree and Jarred Dailey of Norfolk; her son, Michael Ward of St. Regis Falls; her parents, Don and Betty Deleel of Massena; her sister and brother-in-law, Julie and Charles Cruickshank of Massena; and her aunts, Barb Conto and Jean Deleel.
She was predeceased by a sister, Debbi J. Howie in November 2005, many aunts and uncles, and her beloved and loving companion, Shadow.
Services will be held privately at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena. Burial will be in the spring in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Louisville.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may consider contributions to the Norfolk Rescue Squad or the Norfolk Fire Department.
