Clifford E. Hendricks, 95, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010 at Spicer’s Adult Home, Canton. Clifford was born August 26, 1914 in Hermon, the son of Claude and Florence Phillips Hendricks.
Clifford and his wife Lila owned and operated a dairy farm in Marshville from 1949 until 1974 when the couple moved to Bigelow. Clifford lived the past three years at Spicer’s Adult Home which is operated by his nephew and his wife Larry and Donna Spicer. He had also worked at the cheese plants in Morley and at Redrock in DeKalb.
Clifford married Lila Woods on August 26, 1941 in Gouverneur with H.L. Crockett officiating. Lila passed away October 7, 1999.
Clifford enjoyed fishing, tinkering, and spending time at the family camp near Eel Weir. He had been a fifty year member of the Free and Accepted Masons Wildwood Lodge #0477, Edwards.
He is survived by his daughter, Sharon and Paul Billings of Edwards; a daughter-in-law, Dianne Hendricks of Bigelow; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren; a sister, Audrey Garlough of Canton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Lila; a son, Eugene Hendricks; three brothers, Percy, Millard, and Ray Hendricks; three sisters, Elva Simmons, Avis Spicer, and Doris Rupert; and a grandson, Brian Billings.
A funeral service will be held Friday, July 23rd at 3:00 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home, Hermon with Rev. William Hart, pastor of the Hermon United Methodist Church officiating and burial in Hermon Cemetery. Calling hours are prior to the funeral service from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley or the American Cancer Society.
