Claude A. Patchin, 82, passed away Monday, September 27, 2010 at E.J. Noble Hospital, Gouverneur.
A funeral service will be held Friday, October 1st at 10:00 a.m. at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur with Fr. Stephen Rocker, pastor of St. James Church, Gouverneur officiating and burial in Maple Grove Cemetery, Richville. Calling hours are Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Claude was born in Cape Vincent on August 29, 1928, the son of Ross and Mary Lear Patchin. Claude married Erma Siver Mitchell on February 11, 1984 at St. James Church, Gouverneur with Fr. Gerald Service officiating. He was previously married to Barbara Rounds.
Mr. Patchin served in the United States Army and worked at Champion International Paper Company for thirty-six years. He was a past member of the Carthage Vol. Rescue Squad, current member of the Black River Fiddler’s Association, and life member of the NY State Fiddler’s Association. Claude enjoyed country music, playing guitar, bowling, golf, and camping.
Claude is survived by his wife, Erma; two sons, Leo and Jana Patchin of Carthage and Neil and Sue Patchin of Dewitt, Iowa; three daughters, Donna Patchin of Carthage, Claudia and David Barlow of Carthage, and Gail and Ronald Zeh of Schenectady; a stepdaughter, Judy and Claude Davis of Gouverneur; six stepsons, Leo Mitchell of Dexter, Maurice Mitchell of Raleigh, NC, Larry and Dorothy “Dodi” Mitchell of Stanley, NC, Dennis and Barbara Mitchell of Boston, KY, Stanley and Amy Mitchell of Heuvelton, and Harry and Bobbi Mitchell of Richville; two brothers, Richard Patchin of Watertown, and Milford Patchin of Dexter; a sister, Alberta Weber of Cleveland, NC; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Claude was predeceased by several brothers and sisters, a stepdaughter, Laura Jane Norton; and a grandson Brian Mitchell.
