Funeral Services for Clarence F. (Butch) LaComb, age 81, of 307 Mansion Ave., will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Notre Dame Church with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Frary Funeral Home. Interment will be at Foxwood Memorial.
Mr. LaComb passed away January 1, 2011 at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center with his loving family at his side, after being admitted earlier that day.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jacqueline Swan; one son, Jeffery LaComb and his wife Cathy of Syracuse; four daughters, Karen Katzman and her husband Grover of Old Dekalb, Janice Tebo and her husband Donald of Ogdensburg, Diane Spears and her husband Ronald of Ogdensburg, and Lori Davis and her husband Mike of Depyster; two sisters-in-law, Catherine LaComb of Ogdensburg and Nancy Swan of Pittsburgh, PA; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. LaComb was predeceased by two brothers, Augustus and Harold LaComb; and four sisters, Katherine Douglass, Elizabeth Regan, Gwendolyn Morris, and Marie Skelly.
Mr. LaComb was born August 8, 1929, in Ogdensburg, son of Augustus and Helen Gwin LaComb. He graduated from George Hall Trade School in 1947. He first went to work for his father’s business, LaComb’s News Agency. He later went to work for Hackett’s Hardware Store from 1977 to 2001. He married Jacqueline Swan on August 29, 1950 at Sacred Heart Chapel with the Reverend Father Denesha presiding.
Mr. LaComb was a past President of the Minor Hockey Association. He also served on the Park and Recreation Committee for the City of Ogdensburg. He was a member of Notre Dame Church. He enjoyed woodworking, clocks, and stamp collecting.
