Funeral services for Clara E. Compo, 65, of Wood Road, Lisbon will be held on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 12:00 noon at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home, Ogdensburg with Rev. F. James Shurtleff, pastor of Notre Dame Church, officiating.
Friends may call at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 noon.
She died on early Tuesday morning at Claxton-Hepburn Hospital, Ogdensburg where she had been a patient since Saturday, July 16th. She had been in ill health for the past 10 years.
Surviving are her husband, Leo T. Compo, Sr.; five sons, Leo, Jr. and his wife, Robin, Ogdensburg, John and his wife, Margie of Rossie, Gerald and his companion, Linda of Lisbon, Lyle and his wife, Wendy of Massena, and Melvin of Ogdensburg; one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Sherri) Mahnke of Ogdensburg; one brother, Keith Bogardus, and his wife Sandy, New York City; one sister, Sharon Lottie of Heuvelton; 15 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a son, Patrick who died in infancy; seven brothers, Dale “Hap”, Melvin, Durwood, Purley, Donald, Lyle, and Marvin Bogardus; and four sisters, Fern Duvall, Cassie Bogardus, Geraldine Clara, and Janet Bogardus.
Mrs. Compo was born on Aug. 6, 1945 in Ogdensburg, the daughter of Gerald M. & Lucy Griffith Bogardus. She graduated from Heuvelton Central School and was married to Leo T. Compo on Mar. 28, 1964. In addition to raising her family, she was employed doing domestic work for local families, and worked in the Housekeeping Dept. at the United Helpers Home and former Cedars Nursing Home. She also worked as a Home Health Aide for MedLink. She enjoyed fishing, camping, card playing, crocheting, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
