Christopher A. Riley, 60, Newton Falls

Christopher A. Riley, age 60, of Newton Falls, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at his home.

Chris was born on May 23, 1950 in Gouverneur, the youngest child of the late Ross F. Riley and Gladys DeGouffe Riley. Chris graduated from Clifton-Fine Central School in 1968, Marist College in 1972, with a degree in French Language and Literature, and with a Master’s in Finance from Marist in 1980. From September of 1970 until June of 1971 he was a student at L’Institute Catholique, in Paris.

On October 18, 1975 he married Ann Taylor at Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Chapel at Marist College, Poughkeepsie, with Rev. Joseph Dowd officiating. Though the marriage ended in divorce they remained life long friends and devoted parents in connection with each other.

Chris had a long career in business and teaching and it was the teaching he felt was in his soul.

In addition to his mother, at home, he is survived by his children, Taylor Ross, Trevor Ross, Trenton Ross and Taryn Ann; his faithful friend and ex-wife, Ann and her wonderful companion Frank; his beloved brother, Dan at home and William of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; and his nephews, Patrick and James.

In addition to his father he was predeceased by his wonderful sister, Agnes.

Burial will be in the family plot at St. Hubert’s Cemetery and all services are private and at the convenience of the family.

French Family Funeral Home in Star Lake is in charge of arrangements.
