Mrs. Cheryl D. Noel, 63, of 165 Horton Road, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday morning, September 14, 2010, at Massena Memorial Hospital.
Cheryl was born April 17, 1947 in Canton, the daughter of the late John G. and Laura G. Fifield Rost. She graduated from Massena Central School in 1965 and later from the A. Barton Hepburn Hospital School of Nursing. She married Gerald E.L. Noel on November 21, 1986 at the First United Methodist Church in Troy with Rev. Welkley, officiating. He predeceased her on July 10, 1989.
Cheryl was a nurse first working at Massena Memorial Hospital and later at various hospitals and nursing facilities in the Albany area. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting, of which she made many items for the elementary children. She also enjoyed ceramics, candlemaking, collecting Beanie Babies, and butterflies. She also was an avid movie watcher and collector, especially John Wayne movies.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Keith and Jean Vaillancourt of Massena, Mark and Esther Vaillancourt of Oceanside, CA, Glenn Vaillancourt of Massena, Shawn and Kourtnie Noel of Massena and Kiersten and Uriah Willis of Milledgeville, GA; seven grandchildren; and a brother, David W. Rost, Sr. of Nassau.
A celebration of Cheryl’s life will be held Friday 2-4 p.m. with reflections and memories shared at 3:30 p.m. at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena. Burial will be held privately at Oakwood Cemetery, Troy.
