Funeral services for Charles M. Curry Sr., 89, of Madrid will be Saturday (January 22, 2011) at 4:00 p.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home, 20 Church St. Madrid, with Rev. Walter Smith. Friends and family may call on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral. Interment will be in Madrid Cemetery with full Military Honors in the spring.
Charles is survived by two daughters, Susan and husband Grant Dennis of Madrid, and Judith and husband Dale LeVan of Muncy, PA; a son, Charles Curry Jr. and companion Roxanne of Umatilla, FL; stepchildren Sherry and Dan Spaman and Steve and Linda LaFleur both of Ogdensburg; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a step daughter, Sandra Cushing.
Charles was born on March 23, 1921 in Cardinal, Ontario the son of William and Rose Etta Curry. He was a WWII Army veteran. He married Bessie E. LaRue, the marriage ended in divorce. He later married Gail LeFleur in 1971, she passed away in 1996. Charles was an entrepreneur and started many small business along with working at Cushing Stone Company in Schectendy and retried as a Culliganman for Culligan Water Softner in Ogdensburg.
Charles enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. He enjoyed buying, selling and trading along with an extensive collection of collectables, and always enjoyed a good cigar. Charles was a member of Odd fellows in Ogdensburg, AmVets of Ogdensburg, and the Congregational Church in Ogdensburg.
