OGDENSBURG – Funeral service for Charles “Charlie” D. Wangler, 60, of 605 Morris St., Ogdensburg, will be held on Friday (Oct. 1, 2010) at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ogdensburg,
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home.
Mr. Wangler passed away on September 27, 2010 at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center. Surviving are his sons Kristopher and David Wangler of Collinsville, Va., Justin and Joshua Wangler of Ogdensburg; daughters Emily Wangler of Collinsville, Va., and Natasha Shannon of Ogdensburg; a brother Michael Wangler of Dewitt; sisters Catherine Spriggs and her husband Leo of Ogdensburg; Rose Wangler of Bennington, Vt.; granddaughter Haleigh Grace Wangler and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Dorothy Wangler; a brother James Wangler in 1969.
Charles was born on January 28, 1950 in Ogdensburg, the son of the late Charles and Dorothy (Tiernan) Wangler.
He graduated from St. Mary’s Academy and then continued his education at Niagara University where he earned teaching degree.
Charles worked as a school teacher in Lisbon and Hammond for a period and then worked for the Association of Neighborhood Rehabilitation (ANR) until he became ill.
He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, and was an avid NY Yankee Fan.
Memorial contributions have been requested to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
