POTSDAM -- Chad Joseph Morehouse, age 39, formerly of Potsdam, NY passed away after courageous battle stemming from COVID-19, on October 2, 2021, at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.
In lieu of services, his family will be welcoming loved ones at the Morehouse garage on October 14th and 15th.
Chad was born on November 25, 1981, in Potsdam, NY to Terry and the late Nancy (Hyde) Morehouse.
He grew up with a love of the outdoors, dedicating his free time adventuring with his brothers and the neighborhood boys. Later in his adolescence he spent time as a volunteer firefighter with the West Potsdam Fire Department.
Chad was a 2000 graduate from Madrid-Waddington High School.
He went on to attend Lincoln Tech, formerly known as The Barron Institute, where he briefly studied heavy equipment repair before pursuing his ambitions as a heavy equipment operator.
He held miscellaneous jobs until 2005 when he relocated to South Carolina and joined The Operating Engineers Local 470. His career allowed him to travel the country, working various jobs and making numerous friends in the process.
He was most proud of his time building the border wall in Arizona.
From a young age, Chad loved building and racing derby cars. When he wasn’t working or spending time with family and friends, he could be found tinkering on one of his many trucks or motorcycles.
He was passionate about hunting and found joy in off-roading with friends.
Chad was most known for trying to make others laugh, making jokes just to see someone smile, even it was at his own expense. His magnetic personality earned him many friends that turned into family.
He had a contagious laugh and playful grin that brought happiness to all in his presence. Chad deeply loved his family and friends, always finding the time to be a listening ear or to lend a hand when they were in need.
Chad leaves behind his father, Terry Morehouse of Potsdam, NY, his brother, Corey Morehouse and his wife, Samantha Morehouse of McNeal, AZ, his brother, Cole Morehouse and his fiancé, Mallory James of Potsdam, NY, his daughter, Rachel Morehouse of North Augusta, SC, as well as four nephews and a niece.
He was preceded by his mother, Nancy Morehouse and his sister, Chelsea Morehouse.
